I sent service in after a year of carry and 80% of the finish was gone.
Contacted megan@springfield-armory.com received rma# sent it in 3 weeks later I had a refinished pistol faxed my shipping receipt and received a refund for that also.
But on the other side the gun-kote Canyon creek applied was much faster looks better and tougher.If I had to do it again hard chrome for the service and gun-kote on the sub-compact

And skip the free armory coat

I have to admit the my XD is rusting and won't injest or eject bullets. I am going to sell it and buy a g#$ck or a s!g. is getting old seems like every third post someone is bitching they hate thier gun but won't send it in for repairs.
So if I offened any one with real problem contact megan@springfield-armory.com and get it fixed so you may love your xd as much as I do mine.

If SA won't refinish the gun...big deal...Since you already coughed up nearly 500 bones for the pistol in the first place......why wouldn't you spend $60 bucks to have the damn thing refinished? Seems like a small price to pay for such an excellent gun. My Service XD40 is 3 years old and starting to show some wear but no rust. When it gets bad enough, I will ship it off the Canyon Creek to be refinished and consider it money well spent. Just my two cents....
