I have a xd 40 service and I would like to know how to find out when my weapon was made by using the serial number.

Alternately, maybe we can figure it out for ourselves by posting partial Serial#'s.

I'll start.

SN# - US847*** - test fired August 25, 2007

The test fire date has been pretty reliable in the past so I would say your gun was made 7/28/2007.

We've discussed this on another thread. Serial numbers are randomly assigned at SA. So, there's no logic to them, which means you won't be able to figure anything out by them.

Call SA and give them your s/n. They'll tell you about your gun then.

I hope I didn't come across as rude. I didn't mean to.

Here's a linky to another post I made on the topic. Words direct from SA themselves on their serial numbering process.

Date of manufacture
