I am new so please be patient. Am I to understand that I am going to have to be taking my XD-40 apart to work on it? (other than routine cleaning) A gunsmith I ain't, and from all I have read and researched, the XD functions so well through 1000's of rounds that it is virtually indestructible.

I may have a rude awakening if I start experiencing situations that require the disassembling of my firearm. Hopefully I will not have to be spending money to pay a gunsmith to service my XD!

Suggestions???

LS

Lefty

XDs are VERY reliable and there is NOTHING wrong with mine.

I am raising this issue, only because I think the XD extractor is needlessly complex and complicated to disassemble COMPARED to other guns. Extractors CAN break and get worn. Most people won't ever need to replace one - if they don't shoot thousands of rounds a year. But, it could be a problem, and I wondered if anything was gained by HS/XD in making it tough.

Sometimes, when people voice complaints, even on forums, manufacturers start to listen.

It just makes extractor replacement, or refinishing harder.
