XD Sub Compact or Sig P239
I am considering buying a ccw and I am torn between the 9mm sc and p239. I've shot the xd in 9mm service and .45 tac. I enjoy the steel frame of the p239, but I also enjoy the xd in general. I know that I lose two rounds with the Sig. I consider both to be reliable.
Anybody that owns both please weigh in. Anybody that understands the price points of these please weigh in. |

I own a P239 40/357 and an XD9SC. While I feel the Sig is much more reliable I will not buy another. It just does not fit my hand. Reliable, accurate, good trigger, but it just does not fit my hand. I even bought the wood grips. Also if I am going to carry something that heavy and fat it better have more the 7 rounds. Lots of good firearms out there and lots of opinions on which is best. You will have to find the one that fits your hand. I also own an H&K USP, Glock 23, Kel-tech, Taurus Millennium, and a Karh. The DX 9sc is the latest and so far I like it the best and the Sig the least. It’s all in the fit.

The Sig is a great gun, but it is bigger than you think and a bit heavy.
As for reliability, I would put an XD toe-to-toe with a Sig any day. |

I've got an XD service and subcompact. My wife has a Sig P250. I know it's not the 239, but I personally don't like the feel of the grip on the Sig. The XD is much more comfortable IMO, and with the pierce grip extension, it's really nice.
I'd recommend the XD

the sig that I had fired was really small and compact, but it was not the p239. I don't think it's in production and I don't remember what it was anymore. any ideas?

I'd be looking more at the Sig 250 compact than the Sig 239

I like the trigger better in the xd than in the sig. To me the xd just feels better. The price also makes the xd feel better. With the money you will save you can practice a little more. Just my thoughts on it.

Well its jaded for me since I own so many ( Sigs ). But the Sig for me is reliable hands down. Not saying the XD isnt. I dont own one. I ve shot a couple ( XD's ) and while I am not a fan of the 239 itself, I would much rather have the 229. But with hogue grips instead of wood they are a little better fitting ( on any Sig ). Get the wrap arounds, makes it totally different.
Now the P250 would probably be a better choice over the P239 in my opinon. Its lighter , and holds more rnds. While its a step away from traditional Classic Series Sigs. I think its a good piece. I think price wise though, you could probably save a couple hundred going with the XD, unless you opted for the P250. Now I have a nice 239 SAS I am selling ...... Take a look at the P250 too though. I think you might like the way it feels. Good luck |

If your going for carry a polymer framed pistol is lightweight, you'll want that when you've had in your belt for hours.

I took my wife to the range the other day and we rented a few pistols for her to try before we buy her one. (I bought the sub compact in my sig for her, but she didn't like it, so now we're trying as many others as we can.)
One of the guns we rented was the P239, and I have to say I really liked it and that I shot it better than the sub compact. She didn't care for it though and was pulling her shots low.
