I think you should go with the one that feels the best in your hand and shoots the best for U.

I have an XD9SC and a Sig P239 in 40, as well as a bunch of other Sigs. I like them both for carry, but I carry the Sig. I'm not concerned about capacity because I've read all the stories I can find about shootings, both police and civilian. If I'm really concerned, I'll just take another mag. I carry the Sig in a paddle holster or leather belt holster for hours without feeling it. Just shoot everything you can and see what you like. If you get either gun and hate it, you'll have no problem selling either one.

Yeah I would say definitely rent them. 239's and xd's should be readily available to try out a few times. I like my SAS model 239, and when you take pictures of it next to a 229, they dont look smaller , but it is in alot of places. I am just partial to a 229.
I also have a MP9c and I like it alot, though I am going to sell it and get a MP40c instead. I am just more into .40 then the 9mm. But its nice too. Plus with all the rebates going on ( is it still going ) and two free mags. Shoot for $450 you cant go wrong with that. Good luck on your choice.

I love the XD SC. It was cheap, it fits my hand perfectly, I've never had a failure to fire/feed, and I am accurate with it.
The Sig looks nice too. How much do they cost?

that is a nice firearm. Now to really throw things into wack, I beheld a P6 and HK P2000 with night sights. I wish I had an opportunity to test fire one, but it seems like a real classy gun. It seems like it'd be very enjoyable to shoot, but I won't know unless I buy one.

I have a HK 40 compact as well. With the LEM trigger. I love the way it feels in my hand and its trigger is awesome!!!!
Though when you start comparing a MPc to a XD your probably pretty close in range for a new gun in price terms. But when you start comparing Sigs and HK's to MPc and XD's your talking more money. But with that, your getting high class tools. Its kinda like a Snap on vs Craftsman. They both work, and do the job, but the Snap ons are alot nicer and in some cases are the only tool to use. But all in all, its what you like, what you think fits best in your hand and you have the best ability to shoot. You can go wrong with a Sig or an HK if you can afford them and they seem to work for you. And if the XD and MPc work and you like them , then you can save some money and go with them as well. I have Sigs,HK's and MP's. I like them all , and if I was going to pick a small compact I would probably go with one of my Sigs. With the HK close behind. And then my MPc.
