I have a MP9c and love it. Its great functioning, never has an issue with HP's and fits great. I put a Mike C star burst back strap on it and the grip is like night and day. I would think its velcro'ed to my hand. But I am more of a .40 guy so I am going to sell my 9c and look into a 40c possibly.
I have alot of small .40 guns. And with the rebate ( is it still around ) for the .40 with 2 free mags. Makes it a heck of a bargin. Here is a couple pictures of my 9c I did a subtle custom job on. Including the Mike C back strap. Its a great gun. I might just keep it and get a 40c ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've shot both an M&P9 and an M&P40, as well as an XD9 and an XD45.
Out of all the rounds I put through all the guns, the M&P stood out in my mind as above and beyond. It was super comfortable, easy to handle and control, and had very manageable recoil, as well as a very easy trigger. I like the XD a lot, but if I chose a gun on comfort and shootability, it would be an M&P

I have two XDs (I've owned seven) and two M&Ps. The first time I ever picked-up an M&P, I actually shot it much better than I do the XD, and I've been shooting the XD for a LONG time (in IDPA).
I loves me some XDs, but the M&P fits me percetly, and I shoot it REALLY well. Try both, buy the one that likes you. |

i purchased an m&p 9mm and about a week or 2 later i purchased the new midsized m&p .45....i love them both. after shooting my m&p9 at an IDPA match i was confident that it was a great shooter and as stated before, it fit PERFECTLY in my hand.
i was planning to by a .45 for awhile and debating between the XD and the M&P. i already owned a XD40 service, so i know the value of XD's and i am truly a fan. i spent about 40 mins at the gun store comparing the XD45 service, XD45compact, and the M&P45. surprisingly the m&p really felt better in my hands. it is the most natural feeling firearm i have ever handled. that is something for me as i went years stating the same about the XD, and i even felt kinda weird that i was actually more pleased with the m&p. i had gone to the store actually to get the XD and just wanted to see the m&p to compare and rule it out. also, i was not really happy about the mag capacity of the m&p, and still dont understand fully why s&w didnt stick 3 more rounds in it (but its not a biggie for me anymore). the other deal maker for the m&p was the sweet rebate i got (2 free mags & $50). my suggestion to you is to compare both side by side, shoot both, consider mag capacity (if that is an issue for you), and consider that the m&p is fairly new on the market so accessories may be harder to find. also, the xd's grip has a rougher feel than the m&p, which may make prolonged shooting a pain (i use a hogue grip on mine). the m&p's grip has a perfect feel, no need to change a thing, other than the backstrap to fit handsize. they are both GREAT firearms, you will not go wrong either way...dont let anyone tell you differently. go with what feels & shoots bests for YOU.
