SC or Service
I could use some advice on this: I know the SC has the shorter grip, and 1" shorter barrel than the Service model, making it 'more concealable'. For those of you that have both, or have in the past, is there a big difference in comfort or concealability?

I have both and I think the comfort and concealability has a lot to do with the type of holster you choose. I use a Supertuck made by CrossBreed and have zero problems with the XD40SC or my XD45C the SC is a little lighter but the 45C is not a problem. So a quality holster and a quality gun belt make a huge difference when it comes to comfort and concealability depends a lot on how you dress and your choice of holster. The Supertuck is an IWB Holster. I hope this helps you.

I have a 9mmSC and grip chop my service to SC.... I use one holster. CrossBreed Supertuck for both guns. Works great... Fits both.... can't go wrong with one holster and 2 guns to fit into them.

I had a service and sold it for a 40SC. I can tell a difference while carrying, it feels lighter, less bulky. It's not that I didn't like carrying the service, but I like carrying the SC more. And I'm more accurate with it, which I didn't think would be the case.

Get the SC, like GK said it is a very accurate little snubby. I personally don't see the need for the Service models in the XD line anymore, the SCs can do it all and are more versatile.

I have both. I enjoy shooting the Service more, but the SC is a great shooter too. My advise is if you are going to be carrying at all get the SC. The Service is concealable, but if you are looking to conceal it (in warm weather clothing especially) the SC is much easier. I wasn't sold on the SC, I thought it would be way too small, but now that I have it I realize that it is really a good size.

Another vote for the sc. I've carried and shot both, now own a sc. You give up nothing in accuracy witht the sc and gain a lot in concealability, especially if you are wearing summer clothing.
