I have both, I like them both and do not think the sc gives up anything to the service model. I use a serpa holster and neither are hard to conceal with a forward cant.

I had, and sold, an XD-9 Service Model, and I just picked up today an XD-SC9, and while I have not fired the latter, I can tell you it appears to conceal quite a bit better and does not appear to drag on the belt as much.

Also, I find I like the feel of the XD-SC9 far better than the Service Model.
