I CARRIED A SERVICE FOR A WHILE. HOWEVER, I DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE CARRYING IT. SO I TRADED IT FOR A XDSC 40. THE COMPACTNESS IS NICE. I CAN PUT IT IN THE POCKET OF MY CARHART NO PROBLEM. I WISH SPRINGFIELD WOULD COME OUT WITH A 45 SC

I have both. I have a hard time with a 4" barrel for concealed carry. Yes, it can be concealed and everyone that carries a 4" barrel won't hesitate to tell you so. However, it is less comfortable. Concealed carry isn't just all standing up. You still have to sit down some time. That extra 1" of barrel length doesn't mean much in terms of comfort and concealment while standing up. It makes a big difference when sitting down though. Bucket seats in a car aren't the best place to have a 4" barrel on your hip. If you like to wear your pants with the waistband above your belly button, then this might not be an issue for you.

+1 on the sc. I have a Glock 23 (compact) but have found, IMO, that the sc conceals so much easier...

Yeah, I was pretty much sold on the SC, then I read somebody's post about the service being more accurate due to the longer barrel. So, I thought I'd ask.

It sounds like we have some happy SC owners here. I think I'll stick with that choice and get a Supertuck. Then I'll be good to go.

Thanks for your help!

If you plan to carry this pistol, then the gain in comfort of the 3" over the 4" outweighs the gain in accuracy of the 4" over the 3". If this is a range gun and you want accuracy, get a 5".

I'm with him....
I sold my bi-tone XD9 service to buy my XD9sc.
It is a bit easier to carry my XD9sc than my XD45 compact.
I usually carry the XD9sc with a Pearce finger extension.
But lately I've been carrying my S&W 642.......

I carry a service bi tone 9mm yes it is rather challenging to conceal it especially in my case since this was my first carry gun, that being said i've come a long way it just takes time and practice finding out what works for you.is a sc easier to conceal yeah in most cases but can a service be effectivly concealed? yes it can

Same for me. I have both in .40 S&W and CCW the sc primarally. Love the service model, but the sc carries sooooo well.
