Lightbulb XD 40 / 357 switch

Say I have a XD 40 frame that is OD or dark earth and a black XD 357.

Can I take the complete slide assembly off the 357 and put it on the 40 and have an OD or DE 357 and a black 40?

As long as they are the same frame type it's not a problem. The service and the tactical 9mm, .40, and .357 all use the same frame. The Sub Compact is a different frame as well as the 45. Make sense???
