For those with stainless slides...

Do you guys use gun scrubber? How do you clean the powder marks near the front of the slide after shooting a few hundred rounds? Has anyone tried rubbing alcohol?

This is exactly why I don't like SS guns. You might try a Scotch Bright pad and some Stainless Steel polish but be warning the slide may appear brighter where you clean it. Stainless Steel is not Stainless .

I have 3 guns with hard chromed slides - Every once in a while, I'll get powder marks that do not come off with Breakfree CLP. I always use the same ammo, so I don't know why it happens every 10 trips or so, and not every trip.

ANyway - get some regular Hoppes. It comes off in 30 seconds with that stuff.

And personally - I prefer silver colored slides. Thats why I just got my XD yesterday with a stainless slide.

Clp

I've not had a problem just using CLP. If you notice a particularly dirty slide, spray/wipe it down with a good coat of CLP and let it sit while you work on the other parts.

I've got over 2200 rounds through my stainless XD and it comes away clean every time with CLP and a plastic brush.

Easier to make your own with an old cloth, and gun oil. As long as the marks on my stainless slides don't affect performance, I don't worry about them.

Birchwood casey and clean bore both make a lead removal cloth there about $5 and worth every penney. just rub it on the black marks and they wipe right off. When I got my first stainless gun I was freaking out cause it wouldent get clean than my dad busted out this old nasty looking rag and three wipes and it was spotless, when I got home I ordered 6 from midway and that was two years ago and I am still using the first one.

I use one after every time I shoot or carry and it has kept my BiTone XD9SC looking like new so far.
