I don't think they'd cover it under warranty, but I don't think they'd go out of their way to screw you either. I think if you just give them a call and be honest, they'll do their best to help you out.

The only "spring" that holds those pins in place is what makes the slide slop/lock function. There isn't a spring or anything on the right side of the XD (right side when looking at it from the rear as if you were shooting it.)
Is this the first time you've disassembled your XD, if so, it appears it may have been assembled incorrectly as I can't see how that spring for the slide lock would get wrapped around the pin like that.

FWIW, I think it should be covered under warranty.
Removing the pin should not destroy the frame. It's as likely as not that something was wrong with the frame or the way that particular gun was assembled and I'd think SA will cover it. I've always been told they have one of the best warranty policies in the industry.
