XD9 Subcompact broken guide rod

I purchased a used XD9 subcompact last week. Today after about 50 rounds of 115gr WWB the guide rod came apart. The front half flew down rand.

Where can I get a new guide rod? Direct from Springfield? Would it be covered by the warranty?
Is this a common problem?

Springfield should fix it, probably send you a new one with a phone call, might want you to send the old one in so they can check it to see why it failed

re:

It is a problem. One of the main reasons I switched from the sub compact to the XD 45 compact. When I was having problems with the recoil/spring assembly with my XD40sc they told me to use the ol' loctite ( Just for everyones information this was my second XD40sc that did the same thing, the first one had the premature slide lock problem also ... which I don't want to get into, and if you do a search on the forums you will find it somewhere .... and no it wasn't my thumb ). And after thinking if they sent me a new one that after about another 500 - 700 rounds it will get loose again. And at the time it was my main carry weapon, I said no way. Went and got a XD45 compact, very happy with it.

p.s.
I am a very loyal to Springfield but I will not blow any BS and say the XD40sc dosen't have its problems. Their might be many peeps right now who haven't had one glitch, but if you do a search for premature slide lock or recoil assembly coming unloose you will find the threads to back up my statements. I went with the XD45c because it is everything the xd40sc and more, one of the best all around carry weapons I have owned. Good luck my friend.

More trouble

OK a little more on my guide rod trouble. Half the guide rod came out the front and half stayed in the gun. I can not get the slide bake far enough to remove it. Anyone have any experience with this? Suggestions?

find some vice grips if you have them..lock them on real tight then pull forward on the guide rod may reseat it enough to then pull the slide back all the way..sounds like the part that reasts against the barrel came out of place and is caught..or the spring is caught on part of the broken peice
