Most people do like them, but not me. I can see how they can absorb recoil somewhat, but I don't feel like they give you a consistant grip every time you draw. When you draw on a solid grip, you know what feels right, and what feels wrong. When the grip conforms every time you grab it, I just can't help but wonder if I'm holding it just like I did the last time, when I shot well, or if the reason I'm off is because I'm not holding it like I should be. At least new grips are available now. I bought mine in Dec. of 1999 (My Y2K gun! ), and there were no accessories specifically made for it then.

SLCDave, I see what you mean. I've always used them shooting slow at targets, so the comfort was what impressed me. I can see how they could feel kinda squirelly drawing from a holster though.

I think that Taurus is releasing a multi cartridge revolver that does indeed fire the .357 mag/.38spl and 9mm cartridges. (You may be able to get away with the 9x18 and .380 acp too, depending on how the design works.)

"3 Calibers in one" this text is copied from the Features tab on the Taurus webpage for the new Triad revolver.
http://www.taurususa.com/products/pr...egory=Revolver

Colt used to make a multi caliber revolver (the Survivor model), and I think Smith and Wesson also tried it once. Since the bore diameters are the same (within a thousandth or so), holding the case in position to be fired and then extracting it is the main technical issue. I don't know how they are doing it, perhaps something that snaps into the extraction groove in the case and holds the rimless cases against the recoil shield.

There was a revolver called the Medusa that would fire all of those similar sized cartridges. To gimmicky for me.

You might want to shoot the titanium version befroe you buy it.

Some folks have complained about the recoil from .357 loads. I like them.

My father in-law bought a Rossi .357 with a 2" barrel not too long ago. I just can't get him to the range with it.

The wife has pretty much taken over the Plated S&W .357 4" barrel that my dad gave me. Has large wood grips and she loves it. Shoots it allot better than any other pistol we have.

just to let you know, it doesnt shoot all of those out of one gun.

the "9mm/.38/.357" means thats the calibers you can get it in.
No, the Triad will fire all three plus more out of the same gun.

I plan on trading in my Taurus 66 for this one.

I suppose its only 5 rounds though, a definite disadvantage against 7rds. I wonder how big to cylinder is going to be to hold 7 rounds. My Taurus model 66 holds 7 rounds and it aint skinny!
They have a 7rd version coming out as well:

Being able to swap ammo is great. After firing a box of .357 the .38's feel as light as .22s.

WOW! Thanks for all of the replys! I will be using for conceal carry. Pretty much all guns I am purchasing @ this point will be used in CCW situations. It is hot and muggy outside right now. I want a gun that fits well (and is light) in cargo short side pockets.
I have a seamstress friend that has volunteered to "install" some holster type things IN the pockets that will securely hold a small revolver or semi.
I think she is thinking of selling these and wants to use my shorts for prototypes...that's cool with me.

I am reading everything that everyone has written and it is very helpful. I am definitely interested in the Triad models that shoot the 9MM/.38/.357.
That is pretty darned great IMO.

I will keep you guys posted as to what I am going to get.

Thanks everyone!
