Sorry to hear of your situation. The customer service is really out of character from the many other testimonies I've heard. I'd just keep going up the ladder until I talked to someone that would give me satisfaction. I think the finish issues are a small % of the enormous amount of XD's sold. However, no matter how many, the manufacturer should stand behind their product. On the other hand, there are some who would abuse SA and just try to get a free refinish job, when there is nothing wrong with their finish. This could be the reason they have to scrutinize when they refinish and when they do not.

Man, this makes me nervous! I'm packing my XD up to be shipped back to SA next week for the same rus..err reason.
They said they do offer re-finish (armor-kote) on defective finishes and gave me an RMA. I took that as standing behind their product. IF they flub this, they've lost a major supporter of theirs. Not only do I buy a fair amount, but I recommend them for lots of new shooters I bring into the "sport". Let's put this in the simplest of terms. A finish is to prevent rust. If it fails, it is defective.

And mine sits in a safe with all types of other pistols.
Yet this is the only one that has ever rusted and it happened repeatedly.

SA refinished my XD40...Slide only...but they refinished it...The only part I ever had rust issues at was in the dovetails of the slide...I was surprised they refinished it...but I sent it in due to some problems from a bent factory (exploding) guide rod.

I have had my xd for maybe 4 weeks now. I'm paranoid about the rust already. I'm going to have it hard chromed by tripp here in the next week or two. I'm very happy with my xdsc bi-tone so far, but this kind or stuff is crap. I don't think I'll ever buy another xd until they get this fixed. Of course, if they do, they'll just jack up the price to cover it. At least you wouldn't have to send it back in to them again.
What pisses me off is that they know there is a big problem, and yet they do nothing to fix it. If that is how they feel, I will stick with glock!! |
