The nice thing about buying a gun without night sights is that you can pick any set of night sights you want on the aftermarket and get them installed. I'm a big fan of TruGlo TFOs and put a set on each of my two XDs. With installation, it will run you somewhere around $120. These guns are no fun at all to change the sights on, so I strongly advise against trying to do it yourself.

Seems a lot of retail folks feel they have to sell what they have and do anything to discourage you from ordering -- they want your money now! While unemployed a while back I looked into selling cars at a dealership. They would train you and then, a month later, you were on your own. The thing is they were VERY emphatic about selling what was on the lot and explained that if you didn't sell what was on the lot the odds of selling at all would drop significantly. They mybe right about that but YOU don't have to play THEIR game...

So, if you have the time to wait a couple weeks or so I'd just tell them this is what I want and do you want the sale or not? When I ordered my Tactical with Trijicon I knew I'd be leaving town in a week and might not be back for a month and told the salesman that at time of order. He was pretty decent in NOT pushing what they had as I had made it clear exactly what I wanted. So, six days later I geta voice mail that the XD was in and about an hour later I was in signing the papers. Put 50 rounds through right after that and another 100 after work and then left town the next morning.

I don't know. I put $600 down to order a 9104 (9mm w/ trijicons) from my local shop. A week later, he called me and said it was in. I get there and he had the 9mm with Heinie Slant instead of trijicons. I told him it was the wrong thing and that I didn't like/want the straight 8 setup. He told me that his distributor told him that they were exactly the same except the Henie's laster longer. It's not a gun shop, it's a sporting goods store so I'm not surprised that he didn't know the difference. He called all four of his distributors while I was there, none of them had the 9mm service with trijicons. He told me he could probably order it directly from Springfield but it could take 30-60 days. I asked for my money back and I'm going to buy the regular service and send it to Springfield to have the Trijicons installed. I highly doubt that this guy was just trying to sell me what he had. If he could of ordered it, he would have.

Both guns have both sights as an option. Look at the Springfield website. The 9mm service with Trijicons is model number XD9104. The 9mm service with Henie's is XD9501.

This gun store is real close to base and i go in there to talk to him from time to time. I dont think he is screwing me. He put it on his wish list, but distibutors just dont have them. He doesnt have an xd40sc with regular sights either, but he can get it in three days and i told him i was ok with that. plus its less money out of pocket right now.

Im cool with it
