I do want a new pistol, i just don't know if it will be a sub-compact XD .40 or if i want something a little exotic like a .357 sig or a Glock 10mm or maybe a Glock 45. all sub compact.
I will be using a supertuck IWB holster for whatever i get, pocketing a pistol is not an option. I suppose i'm asking if i should stay with what i know works well and is familiar of if i should expand my colection? |

My EDC is a 9sc. Concealability is no problem. I am already wearing summer clothing most days have no problem concealing with my Crossbreed Quickclip.

I'm 5'6" 130 lbs. and I carry my XD 45 Compact in a Dakota Defender every day with a t-shirt and either jeans or shorts. I am confused because you say you have a 40 subcompact and you don't think it will conceal, but then you say you are looking at the 3" subcompacts.

You may also want to try appendix carry; it seems to conceal larger guns better on you skinny guys.

I am currently considering a revolver for a carry gun. Thinking about Charter Arms. I think S&W are way over priced and have been hearing a lot of bad things from people I know about the quality of Taurus,( I know others have had good luck with them as well). This is what I want.

Thanks, that makes more sense. I was in the same situation. I sold my 40 service to get my 45 compact. It is a lot easier for me to conceal. My wife has the 40 subcompact. I think both are just as easy to conceal.

Since you already have an XD .40 service than further consider the subcompact. You'll be able to use the larger service mags in your subcompact and you won't have to spend a lot of money on an odd variety of bullets.
You might go to the gunshop with the idea of getting a box of ammo for different cals and discover it's expensive. Stick with one cal in a variety of options. For that matter consider investing in a good IWB holster. I carry a Milt-Sparks VMII everyday with my XD .45 compact tactical. I find it easier to carry than my little baby glock 26 was. Chapie+ |

The Kahrs WILL conceal better than the XD SC. Single stack vs double. The Kahr is a lot thinner. I can shoot my Kahr MK40 better than my XD40SC. The steel frame on the MK makes it nicer to shoot, but heavier than the PM40.
Not my Kahr, but a shot of the relative thickness between my 40SC and a 1911. Note I now have thin carry grips on the 1911 and it's not much thicker than the metal backstrap. Good compare of single vs double stack mags. ![]() And the MK40. Need to take shots with it and the SC together.
