Slide Releasing Unexpectedly

I've got about a 1000 rounds and never a problem before. When shooting service XD-40 ( stock) this week the slide released unexpectedly when pushing the magazine home. Experimented with the UNLOADED weapon, with the slide back and locked by the release "lever". I tapped the mag well against my thigh and the slide releases. I've never noticed this before and my range partner could not duplcate on his XD-45. Anybody else dealt with issue?

I've seen glocks do this, but my XD has never done that.

Some try to do this on purpose. Basically the slide stop lever is held down under spring pressure as long as you have a round in the magazine. When you fire the last round a corner of the magazine follower pushes the slide stop lever up engaging a notch in the slide holding it in the open position. When you insert a full magazine if you slam it with enough force to cause the slide to move slightly rearward far enough to release the slide stop lever. The spring pressure will force the slide stop lever back to the down position and release the slide. This can happen more easily if you are using a light recoil spring.

+1

In fact, the Glock 22 that I've had for just 2 months does this same thing. I'm not mad, though...

A lot of semi auto designs do this. I would be interested to hear what SA would say about it. It is not really an advertised feature, but at the same time a lot of guys like it. Some obviously don't.

My XD9sc won't do it either.
My Taurus 24/7 does it everytime and I must admit I like it.

I think more people would like it if it happened 100% of the time, but the fact that is happen 10% of the time (on my g17 anyway) it made it unpredictable, and dangerous IMHO
