Vest

What do you guys think about using a vest such as the 5.11 to conceal with a t-shirt and shorts. I'm trying to come up the the best way to carry all day (I work outside) while staying compliant.

Thanks

What kind of work. Some jobs a vest would be right and not a dork thing.

I bought a 5.11. I sent it back. Don't do it. Not only do they scream gun but they are made of canvas, have 15 pockets making for a double thickness. Very hot and heavy. I gotta laugh here. My neighbor is a hunter. He hunts everything including Grizzly. He saw me in my 5.11 just before I sent it back and his eyes bugged out. It was worth buying the vest just for that very moment. It was like he thought I was a mercenary.

I think you are thinking of a bullet proof vest, and I think they are referring to a conventional vest.

The 5.11 Tactical Vest was made to greatly reduce or even eliminate the need for a duty belt for Police Officers. It's not really meant for citizens who carry with a CCW. They state that the average duty belt weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 lbs, and by the time you try to cram all that into a vest, it's going to have to be fairly big and bulky.

That being said, you'd see me in a tac vest way before a fanny pack. They're hilariously stupid.

Now, 5.11 DOES make some cool jackets for CCW. They have a sort of goofy 80's stonewashed jeans jacket, but they have a decent looking Monterey jacket that I've thought about picking up for Fall and Winter.

I use the 5.11 vest for IDPA competition. I don't use it a lot on the street because of the reasons already given.

A vest that i bought from COLEMAN. Due to my size I got an xxlarge. The back is vented.Very nice . I think they call it a fishing vest. I use it every time i leave the house. I live in florida and right now it is hot here and i have no problems with it. I carry a XD.40 service in a GALCO FLETCH holster. No problems with printing. My wife says that see can't see a thing.Oh by the way it cost me $40.00 :
