I own both a SC and Service in 9mm. The Service is my favorite shooter, and it a superb range gun, but if you are going to conceal at all then get the SC. The only time I feel comfortable concealing my Service in when I have a coat on. The SC is really easy to conceal. The SC recoil isn't worse, but for me it just isn't as comfortable as the Service. The SC is still a great gun to shoot though.

I've got the 9 3" my neighbor the 9 4". I don't notice that much difference, if any between the two. You give up nothing in accuracy by getting the 3" and it is a great ccw weapon. You will be pleased with either one you get.
Oh, what the heck, get 'em both!

This is why Springfield needs to make option C, the compact. It gives you the 4" barrel for the range with the shortened grip for CC. With the extended magazine, you essentially have a service model.
If I were you, I'd get the subcompact. The recoil isn't bad on them, and when you do start to CC you'll be glad you did. My SC should be here today, I'm currently concealing a XD45 Service, and it takes a good bit of dressing around. Also, if you have a problem with the shortened grip, check out the Pierce grip extensions as well (they're on pistolgear.com) |

My xd9sc has the pearce grip extentions on it and I can double tap very accurately with it. It is just as accurate as any 4" barrel gun I have shot out to 25yds. Go with the sc you will be happy with it when you start carrying.
