Quick question

I am going to my first gun show since I got my CHL. Can I carry right up to the check weapons table or do I need to have the weapon unloaded when I get there?

Thanks

I've never carried to a show but I would check with whoever is hosting or promoting the show before hand, surely they could tell you. Maybe someone out there has more to offer than I do....

According to what you are carrying. My J-frame stays in
my right front pocket, concealed, loaded and no ones' darn
business, even though they ask whether I have a loaded
firearm.

Thing about gun shows in these parts, in fact I am going
to one tomorrow, is that when you do carry in any of your
machines, the guys at the entrance gate to the show, will
take your pistol or revolver and put a damn tie wrap thru
it, supposedly to keep it safe and unloaded. What a joke
that is. Liability purposes me guess.

My advice, unless you got'em a J-Frame. is to suck it in
and secure your machine in your auto vs. taking it in.

Yes play by the rules. the weapon must be unloaded and the clip empty.they will zip tie it and if you unload your clip at the table they will put it in a zip lock bag for ya. Rules are there because the law abiding responsible gun owner fallows them.

Thanks for the replies, I went to the show before I got to read these. I emptied my pistol in the truck and left the clip there, then checked the pistol at the table. Like you all said, they put a stupid zip tie through it. The funny thing was that I used my fanny pack to take it in. They had the obligitory 30.06 sign posted. I asked if I needed to leave my pistol sticking out of my pants and they said that as long as it was ziptied that it would be Ok in the fanny pack??????? I didn't realize the sign was only for LOADED WEAPONS!!! Anyway, all went well.

Thanks again

I liked Ed Ely's reply the best. If gun show people don't trust you then why should anyone else. When gun show people put up 30.06 signs they are saying they do not trust you with the very products they want to sell you. How many of you carry CCW without any ammo in your gun?

I carry ccw and my mag is loaded , but it is un loaded in areas or places that post it to be. If we neglect law,s and rules then we have forgoten all what we have learned in ccw class and carrying concealed or neglecting rules or laws just for the fact that we feel it is pointless is no excuse or example to set for future and or new gun owners who come here for advice.
