Defensive Concepts North Carolina
Just noticed we don't have a training forum here.
Anyway looking for anyone that has had any experience with the company listed in the thread title? I met a guy at the last USPSA fun match that had done a defensive carbine course though them and he gave them high praise but that is only one person. We are both going to be heading out in June for their defensive pistol course (carpooling it's about 200 miles away) out by Charlotte. This will actually the the first formal training I've had outside of the Marine Corps Defensive Concepts -

consider yourself the XDtalk guinea pig. You're accustomed to that in the Marine Corps, right?
I expect an after action report in topic, discussion, recommendation format on my desk NLT 3 working days after your return.

How about a real informal post full of spelling and grammar errors?
Prices aren't bad the 600 rounds of ammo will cost more than the course LOL. I've got enough reloads on hand to shoot the whole course but they want "Factory Loaded" ammo.

LOL. We get BCM messages for engines all the time man those things are hard to read. And ALL WE NEED TO KNOW is the freakin' serial number and shipping doc. No need for all that other crap. Most of the time it looks like a 3 year old just crawled across a keyboard and then hit send on the e-mail.

One step closer to the course. Course is just a little over 2 weeks away and this came in the mail today
![]() First time I've bought factory ammo since I started reloading If I was doing their carbine course I would need 1500 rounds of factory rifle ammo AND 500 rounds of pistol ammo.

Class completed yesterday. Very few pics and some video but it was hard to get any pics or video while I was shooting. The instructors were running around with two cameras so hopefully I'll have some good pics soon.
The instructors were awesome and the class was very informative especially if you have had no formal training before. Mood of the class is relaxed for the most part the instructors are funny and crack lots of jokes........especially if you've done one of their classes before. The guy I went out there with had done their carbine course and they were cracking on him fairly constantly. They are good guys. IIRC two of them have military experience on in the Airborne with the Army the other was a Marine but not sure what he did. We fired about 600 rounds some more becuase if you don't get a "good hit" they tell you to make it up by firing till you get into the good zones. Either a head hit or an "a" zone hit on a RIPOSTE target. ![]() I'll try to get a video edited together after I get the pics from the instructors.

The guys in the pictures look funny as hell. Their all decked out in cammo and tac gear, for a shooting course! While the instructors are in polos and cargo pants. Reminds me of all those swat team guys that wear so much crap on their vest and everywhere else you can put anything, you wonder how they can fit through a door... or what they could possably be stuffing that vest with that they might need. Anyways, I was looking into the rifle course, but I really dont like shooting with a bunch of swat wanna be guys. Ive done that before. Hopefully it wasnt like that when you were there. I'd still be interested in going if the croud is cool.
