I didn't do the rifle course I did the pistol course and it wasn't bad at all.

The guy I went with showed me what we did the rifle course with and I have to say for a rifle course he pretty much needed it. I guess I could fit six AR mags and 4 pistol mags on my belt if I needed to but probably couldn't access it that quickly. The range they did the carbine course on was gravel and they did a lot of one knee and prone shooting so the elbow and knee pads are understandable. The instructors aren't shooting that much and aren't doing the drills over and over again so they don't need any of that gear.

The crowd I was with was pretty good to be around. No problems and no one was overly "mall ninja" like.

I was there in my "Peace Though Superior Firepower" shirt, 5.11 pants and G17.

Here are some pics of how most of us were dressed.

This is the buddy I went out there with.

First time I've bought factory ammo since I started reloading

If I was doing their carbine course I would need 1500 rounds of factory rifle ammo AND 500 rounds of pistol ammo.
where did you get that ammo from? if you don't mind me asking

Anyways, I was looking into the rifle course, but I really dont like shooting with a bunch of swat wanna be guys. Ive done that before. Hopefully it wasnt like that when you were there. I'd still be interested in going if the croud is cool.
There were a couple wanna be's there, but there were also 4 LEO's and 2 .Mils in the bunch most were Concerned Citizens looking to put some more tools in their tool boxes.
The kit everyone used was put to use.
I was doing some T+E'ing for a Tactical Gear Manufacturer while there also.
It wasn't just for show and tell..
Its not like we were decked out in CIRAS' and K-Pots With BDU's.
Every peice of gear has a purpose.
The guys that had too much Kit and in the wrong places learned that Quickly though running through drills.
They seemed to realize their "SWAT" Vests were stupid.

Yeah it is. I'm already looking at a defensive pistol course in Fort Worth and would like to find a place that does defensive carbine class for a good price.
