polished barrel: home job
did it with a wheel and a few different machining compounds. not quite the chrome look of some, but I really like how it came out.

looks good!
i did mine earlier this week too...i did mine by hand, started with 600 grit wet/dry paper, then used 1200 wet/dry, then 1500, then 2000....then i rubbed it with 3m buffing compound, then rubbed it with buffing glaze. i let my barrel sit in hoppe's #9 gun cleaner over night....then i cleaned it as normal. a DIY done right is the best form of modification. |

I agree it looks great..you would think that they would do the barrel at the factory since it is the first to show wear?

It looks like you did a very good job. That sure would look sweet with a Don's Guide Rod. (If you don't know where to get 'em, check Pistol Gear.)

thanks!
to be clear -- if you look at it, you can absolutely see your reflection, i just don't think you could read off it like some folks can with theirs. I'll get better photos. And yeah, the polished DGR might be a next step. |
