Alright, I've seen the instructions for frame disassembly, sufficient to get the small parts out in order to polish them. But is there a way to disassemble the guide rod in an XD-9 in order to polish the internals, or is polishing the ends the only real option?

Looks damn good. Is that the barrel that came with the gun? If so didnt you just remove the finish that protects the barrel from rust.

Referring to me? If so, yes.. stock barrel. As for rust... there is quite a bit of talk about that in this and the other polishing thread. It's not really an issue.

I just used 600 grit sandpaper to remove most of the finish (maybe 2 minutes), then I used a bench grinder with a buffing wheel and a buffing stick (5 minutes or so). I could get a nicer finish if I spent a bit more time, and used a finer stick.

Here's a bit of info from another thread. I originally posted that the black finish which the OP scratched is not the melonite.

How long to do the barrel by hand and what would I need?

I only want the barrel done, i think its classy by itself instead of surrounded by more polish.

Got another pic of the chamber area?
What did you do for your results?
