I'm just wondering what others think of these 3 holsters I found on the internet. I won't be using it as a primary holster and I won't need quick access to it in any event I will wear it to. Which ankle holster do you think is best?

unfortunately in some situations such as mine it is not posible to carry anything but an ankle holster. I carried a Makarov on my ankle for ever and then I got rid of it for my xdsc 40. and everybody acts like your an idiot for wanting to carry on your ankle. I say its better to carry some where than nowhere at all.

I ordered two ankle holsters a couple days ago, I should get them within a couple weeks. I'll post some pictures when I get them. For my 9mm XD SC, will get that go you ASAP via my PC. Oh yes, I'm going to be a police person soon too, I donno if it's something I really want but I'll see how I like it, at least til I graduate college.

Chibigui, so you are, "going to be a police person soon too." Oh goody. And you, "donno if it's something I really want but I'll see how I like it, at least til I graduate college."
Well, gosh gee, with that kind of desire to enter le, you most certainly should; I bet you'll be a benefit to the force. Did you stop to think if you quit after you graduate, the dept. will have spent about $100k to send you thru training for absolutely nothing. In all seriousness, if you aren't absolutely sure you want to enter le, please don't. You're not trying to decide if you want to be a checker at Walmart, you are deciding whether you want to enter a field where you could kill or be killed. If you don't go in with the right mind set, you may never make it to graduating college and you might get someone else hurt in the process. |

I'll be working for the government after college so I do care for peace, liberty, and justice.

I have been in LE for over 24yrs and have been carrying an AMT Back Up in an ankle holster for about 17yrs. I also carry a thumb open clip knife in both pockets. I am very good at opening either of those knives one handed and would have no problem using them in a close quarters encounter where I could not get distance between me and the other person. The reason I carry a knife clipped in my off side pocket is I may have to hold onto my duty weapon while it's in the holster to keep the person from removing it. I also use a level 3 retention holster to give me every advantage to retain my gun in a fight.
Just remember, a semi auto gun in a very close encounter where front of the gun may come in contact with the other person may come "Out of Battery". On most semi autos, if you push the slide back enough it will unlock the action and not fire, on some guns this is a very short distance. The distance the slide has to be pushed back depends on the gun. What this means is if you are in very close and push the gun into a persons body it more than likely not fire. Just food for thought!

thank you for the advice. I've really been active in the martial arts since I was around 5 so I think that will help in a lot of close situations. I haven't actively gone to a marital art class for a couple years now but I do plan on going again soon but I have kept myself in pretty good physical condition. I don't really like the idea of causing more injury or pain than I have to, even if it's a bad guy. I suppose I could shoot the person if I have to but I really hope it doesn't get to that point often or at all. I don't know the complications in a police officer shooting someone but if I had to use a gun, I would rather shoot there legs or shoulders first, maybe arm too so I don't have to kill anyone.
