My XD has major trigger slap. I haven't sent it in yet, but I also haven't shot my XD in ages because of it. Blasphemy, I know. I need to see about sending it in and having my non-melonite slide fixed too. I've got the rust problem that never existed according to some.

Ok guys, here the update for my sub 40. I sent it in......they said it was trigger slap and filed down connecting parts, re worked trigger, .....blah blah blah- but its great now. Put about 50 rounds through it and no pain at all. Not 100% sure if I will get reimbursed for my shipping yet but, even if I dont, it was well worth.
Whats the point of having a gun that you dont enjoy shooting? Now I like to shoot my sub 40 as much as my sub 9.

How about the 9sc?
I am having the same problem with my 9sc. I started a thread on it here in the past, but was told it was the trigger safety. I tried to smooth it out but that did not work. Now I'm wondering is Springfield will repair it since I tampered with the safety spur.

As long as it did not effect the function of the trigger safety it should not mess with the warranty. I also filed mine prior to sending it in.

Mine went back for a second time because of trigger slap. I havnt gotten it back yet. Im glad to hear that you guys are more than satisfied and have pain free shooting. I hope mine comes back with that much improvement. The first time, not so much.
This is not necessarily an issue with letting the trigger go as soon as you pull it. If the trigger safety is depressed, it should not contact any part of the fire arm. The slap is when the barrel lugs contact the trigger safety after firing and cause the trigger safety to "slap" your finger. It is not the trigger reseting into an awaiting trigger finger. Its not shooter error. Cause I shoot my 45c the same way, and it is painless! So, if any of you are having this issues, dont think its because you are not shooting properly or that you are just being a sissy about it. If you have trigger slap it is really unpleasant to shoot. Like darbley said, "whats the point of having it if you dont enjoy shooting it?" |

Well said. It's definitely an issue with the trigger and there's no need to live with it if Springfield will fix it for free. Since the repair, the difference in mine is night and day. Granted I wouldn't go so far as to say that they completely eliminated it, but it's about 95% better. After putting 350 rounds down the pipe at the range the other day I knew I had been shooting but given more ammo I would of kept shooting. I definitely would of been done long before that number previously. |

Got a call from Springfield today. They are shipping my 40sc back today. They said that they modified the locking block to help with the trigger safety. She said it might be a little better, but the discomfort is not eliminated. They also said that there was nothing more that they could do. I asked why that was when I had shot other 40xd's that were flawless and easy to shoot. She claimed that it was something they see in the subcompacts on occaision and there is nothing mechanically wrong with the pistol.
Can anyone explain this to me? How does a shorter barrel and grip affect the perfomance of the trigger? I am not a gunsmith, but the design does not differ between my girlfriends 9sc, my 40sc, and my 45c. I can understand the problem occaisionally occuring, but I cant understand why it cant always be fixed. So....this tells me I can go to the shop and look at two 40sc's and there is a chance that one will have s#$%y trigger and the other be perfectly fine. Since it is not possible to test fire a new firearm before you buy it, it is basically a gamble. Why cant the pistol with the s%$#y trigger be fixed, modified, repaired, or whatever so that it performs like the other. Thats what I want to know!!!!! This is really bothering me.....and to think I just bought a 45c because of the quality and customer service. |
