Heine Slant Pro sighting question

I own both a service (stock sights) and a SC with Heine NS. I was at the range on the weekend and I had a question about how to properly use the 2 dot Heine Slant Pros. SC was my most recent purchase so I had a lot more experience using the 3 dot on the service. I believe you place the target slightly above the front sight on the 3 dot correct? I've been doing that with very good results at 7 yards. I tried to apply this same concept to the Heine NS and it wasnt the same, the shots would land lower. Later, I found that placing the target behind the front sight on the Heine would yield better results. Would this be correct?

I have the 9mm SC as well, with Heine night sights, and I think (correct me if I'm wrong) you are supposed to place the front sight dot so that it makes a figure 8 with the rear dot.

oh nuts really? so you have to overlap the dots? I was trying to align the posts like you do with typical sights like a field goal.

If he did that, he'd hit even lower.

Here's a better explanation...directly from the Heine site. Hope this helps.

The Straight Eight Night Sight Configuration consists of a tritium dot in the front and a slightly smaller tritium dot in the rear which glow in the dark (night sights). When aligning this sight picture, put one dot on top of the other dot making an elongated figure eight. Thus, the "Straight Eight". The tritium dots are green in color and have a ten year warranty.

so lining it up like in the pic is the correct way? Which is the same way as the 3 dot system (but instead with 2 dots). I recall to have been sighting it that way but it kept shooting low. When I would go back to my service, and used the same field goal technique, it would hit fine on target. My service has more rounds fired through it, maybe its just broken in better

Should not have anything to do with it. Try making sure you are bringing the sights to your eye level not lower your eyes to the sight level. The straight 8 sights might be a little more sensitive to this than the standard 3 dot. It is very critical that you keep the gun on the same plane as your eyes many time we get lacks and only bring the sights to about nose level making the sight plane off.
