The ramp looks smooth, and clean.
My wife fired it and had a jam on the third shot.
But, if I'm "limp wristed", then she's worse. She has small hands too.
I will contact the gunshop I bought it at, and have them check it.
More than likely I will call SA too.
You comment about "finest shooting gun" makes me determined to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks..

A little off topic, but pay attention to the magazine you are using when it jams or misfeeds.. On an occassion, SA has a bad mag.

I have a service xd 9mm and love it, its my second one and neither had any issues. One failure in more than 5 thousand rounds and it was a FTF with the ammo not the gun. I used Promags in my first XD (not recommended) and still never had any feeding problems. I would guess something is wrong in the weapon or too tight. As others said, if you tried different ammo and arent't limping it then its probably a weapon issue. Factory mags? Send it to Springfield, I sent mine in for a owner induced problem several months ago and they had it back to me in less than a week. Only charged me for the part to fix it, no labor. They are great w/CS. I agree w/ tdyoung58, XD is the greatest shooting gun you'll own

Did you clean it before you shot it? Inspect everything inside to make sure theres not something hanging something up. My SC and Tactical 9mm XDs have been flawless from 115-147gr HP or ball rounds.

+1 on that as I found out recently. Took the oldest boy with us to go shoot this weekend and he was hit'n center much better than moi' with my polymer KelTec P11. I've always shot low left with it and blamed the gun...but NOT. Somehow I must be jerking or canting with that gun; I can group center fine with the wife's Bersa Thunder .380.

I found a good chart PDF I'll post elsewhere here that explains better; most of the charts I've seen just have brief confusing "help" but this one actually details the problems in clear languqge.

It's reassuring to know that SA's customer service is that good if I need it. I am going to try some of the suggestions I"ve received here on this forum to see if it's just not the way I'm handling the gun. I will also pay attention to the magazines to see whether or not there is a difference there too.
Then, if all that fails I will contact CS for assistance.
I am going to try and get to a range tomorrow even though it's Monday. There is one very close to where I'll be working tomorrow. I want to see if it's my technique or not. If I can get there I will post the results when I get home.

My service 9mm never ever jams or stovepipes for me. My wife, on the other hand, can make it jam nonstop when she holds it poorly. I have switched her over to a "crossover" hold with her left thumb crossing over her right thumb, and her limpwristing went away. No more jams. She is also hitting with more accuracy.

this is what limp wristing looks like:
YouTube - Testing several handguns for "limp wristing"

dont let the gun fly back like that, it can actually catch the shell casing it just ejected because the pistol flew back.

If you are using grease clean it out of the gun and use a good quality oil. Even motor oil will work fine.

I took my new XD 9 Service out yesterday and shot 64 rounds through it. While shooting the first magazine I had two stovepipes, both caused by limp wristing. Once I really concentrated on not doing that, there were no problems at all with the other three mags of ammo.
