I own the original SW1911. Bought mine the first year they were out. Mine has a S/N under 2000...

Not a one. Well, there was the factory recall. I sent it in on Monday and the following Friday I had it back. Other then that, not a problem with the 1000 or so rds I've put through it. I have yet to find any type of ammo it won't eat....

From what I understand from S&W, the first 3000 were assembled by the performance center so they would have time to train their line to assemble a 1911.... All I know is the fit and finish are flawless and smooth as butter. The trigger pull is sweet and crisp. I would highly recommend one....

Springfield Armory PX9109L
- 5"
- NovakŪ Night Sights
- 45 ACP
Picked it up for aprox $650 (ish) new.

I'm considering adding a PX9154L to the family as well. Damn sharp looking gun! Black Stainless Steel. Who wouldn't like that!?

If I were you, and I am not, I would look at the STI range of pistols. I have a Trojan 5 but would have loved an Edge. Money was the problem at the time becuase in Oz there was a $1200 price difference between the two. I love my STI.
