Its a personal preference with the thumb sagety. I personally bought an XD bc there was 2 other safeties and NO thumb safety. Thats also why I carry it as a CCW, bc if the S*&T ever hits the fan, god forbid, and I have to use the weapon I dont want to have to fool around with the safety. Too many officers, soldiers and civilians have been hurt or worse bc of that exact situation. Unless you drill constantly on drawing and disengaging the safety, then you run the risk of not getting the it off in time to effectively deploy the weapon when needed. Thats my VERY HUMBLE opinion.
