XD comparison to Glock

The Glock has become the yardstick against which every other combat pistol is judged. If you contest that, look at how many times the Glock is mentioned in this forum alone(almost as much as the XD).Do I like the XD...yes. Do I favor the Glock ....yes.Some "features" on the XD are just unnecessary(loaded chamber indicator, loaded firing pin indicator, grip safety,etc.).The Glock design is very tough to improve upon. The whole ka-boom thing has become a giant circle jerk for non-Glock owners to expand upon, regardless of how they received the "information". The Hirtenberger factory has a test G-17 that was retired @345,000 rounds and it's not uncommon for Glocks to go well up into the six figure range without any major parts breakage. The Glock has now become more prolific than even the 1911.These are just facts, and I think each individual should stick with what their most effective with,WITHOUT spreading internet rumor and non-sense to make them more comfortable with whatever their choice may be.

Just my opinion! Once I bought my first XD I was unsure to if I made a wise purchase? After I got to know the weapon better I was very happy with my purchase and sold every glock that I owned and bought more XD,s I myself will never go back to glocks they are over rated and over priced...Law enforcement purchase the glocks because they pick them up for $375.00 with night sights and 3 high caps. Our local dept. bought sig 229 .40 cals. for about $700 each. I am looking to change depts. soon where I will have to provide my own weapon which will be my XD357 with night sights. So I guess you can say that I will bet my life on my XD

It has been my observation that most Glock fanatics tend to be living in the past. There was a time soon after they hit the market that they were the toughest most reliable handguns to be had. Today, they are still one of the finest handguns available. But what Glock fanatic won't or can't comprehend is that several manufacturers have caught up with the Glock. SAXDs, SIGs, HKs......all make handguns that are at the very least just as tough and reliable as the Glock. Notice I didn't say "better" than. If Glockfan wants to sell me on trigger pull...or the finish on the gun.....or that its used by most law enforcement agencys....fine those are legitimate points we can agree or disagree on. But.....stop with "its the MOST reliable....MOST indestrucable....NEVER has a FTF or FTL or FTE"....blah blah blah....face it...that is no longer true and the Glock is no longer ALONE at the top.
