Gap on the Chamber of my XD40
Hey guys can you please tell me if these is normal on a XD40
I send the guys at Springfield Armory an email with the same picture that I am posting and explaining to then basically what you see on the picture, I don’t know if I should be concerned about it or not, but it does not seem to affect me in any way when ever I fire the gun, exept for the fact that it does not seem to be right. These is what they I got back from Springfield on a Email Dear John, Thank you for contacting Springfield regarding your concern. The gap you have explained is completely normal, all XD’s have it. The barrels are fully supported so this will not cause you any problems. If you find that you are having malfunctions then I would recommend sending it in to us. I hope I was of some assistance and feel free to contact me back if you have any further questions or concerns. Have a great day. Best regards, Megan Klavon Springfield Armory Repair Dept. 420 W Main St Geneseo, IL 61254 800.680.6866 ![]() |

hmmmm....My XD.40 does have a gap in the same place, however on mine it looks normal. On yours...it looks more exagerated then on mine. Is there a gap on the top as well? The top of my chamber looks tight.
In your picture it looks like that gap is present on right side as well as on the top of your XD. Post a picture of the top side.

Well, if you get a lemon, then count me in with you.
My XD looks exactly like yours. If fact, both my XD Service and SC look exactly like yours. I think its normal and your being paranoid. I might be wrong though. However, my XD's are both as reliable as can be. My XDSC has never failed me in 250 rounds or so. The only problem I have with my XD service is when I use a 22# spring when shooting 9mm through a conversion barrel. With 40sw it works perfectly. |

My 9 has a gap there too, but it's not near as big, it's maybe .020-.030 wide at most.

Just looked at my XD it has the same gap. I think this is normal nothing to worry about, as I have never experienced any problems yet.
