The two lugs that bracket the loaded chamber indicator are what headspace the chamber. Any other gaps are not of interest. The chamber is locked into place by the ramp on the lug below the chamber, against the back side of the takedown lever and then against the lugs as noted. Nothing else matters for the most part.
Shoot it a bunch and then shoot it a bunch more. |

Well I have fired about 500 rounds with my XD and I really never had a problem with it. The reason I posted the picture of my gun and the original message, which started this discussion is because I was not so sure about it and also for safety reasons. I just wanted to talk to other XD owners to see if it was normal or not. Like I said before I have used my XD and never had a problem with it, and of all the guns I own the XD is me favorite one. Thank you all

A buddy of mine was showing off his drop-in Bar-Sto 9mm barrel for his ported 40 S&W, and I noticed the gap. I was worried that it might need fitting and be unsafe to fire, until I looked at my 9mm XD and saw that I had the same gap. You're totally OK, don't sweat it!
