Less wear on the barrel. If it starts having FTEs/FTC or slide lockback problems you can try a lighter spring or use standard ammo.

You would likely have a hard time finding 147 grain 9mm ammo that has a muzzle velocity that is not subsonic...

If you're paying more for ammo that says SUBSONIC on it then you're getting ripped off, most 147 grain 9mm ammo is subsonic, meaning it doesn't go above a certain fps (dependent upon humidity, temp, etc, but usually somewhere in the vicinity of 1100fps). |
