My XD9 Service model was purchased two and a half weeks ago new. Ejector is identical to PropellerHead's left picture.

This is interesting, but wouldn't a stamped ejector be made out of solid sheet metal, where the MIM version, albeit thicker, is MIM. Personally, I'd rather have a thinner, stamped part from solid metal. My German 220 proved this to be a good process

Here's my report:
XD-9sc (#879###, Manufactured ~12/2007): Thin stamped ejector but it looks like they updated the part and cut a radius in the spot where some had cracked. Sorry for the blurry picture: ![]() XD-45 Tactical (#618### Manufactured ~01/2006): Thick MIM Ejector ![]() The stamped ejector wiggles and looks cheap so I will probably replace it. A valid question is "which part is better?" MIM works well in parts originally designed to be made using that process but stamped steel seems less likely to fracture. Could it be that the new part is better? Hmmm....

I'm reading reports here about cracked stamped metal ejectors, not the MIMs. Unless I'm missing something, the older MIMs have less reported problems?

The Polt Thickens: 2 Stamped Ejector Styles!?
There appears to be two styles of stamped ejector (one w/radius cut, one without). The question would be whether or not the MIM ejector is superior to the updated (?) stamped ejector that has the radius cut. The cracked stamped ejectors I have seen did not have the radius.

My XD9SC is only about 4-5 months old and has the stamped (no radius cut) ejector. Curiously, my serial # is actually newer than one of the posters with the other style - mine is serial # 8869XX.
No cracks or distinguishing marks in that area yet, but I'll certainly watch for it as I accrue a higher round count. |

My XD.40 Service is a little different still.
Sorry for the dust and lint, but I carry IWB, and when I read this post, I just had to look at mine... ![]() ![]()
