well, both of my guns are new, oldest one being a dec 07 (the 40 service) and my 40SC is a jan 08.
The 40 service has the fat ejector, and my 40 SC has the little one. my SC "looks" like it has that same crack but i think its just a releif type cut when the metal gets bent over because i only have ~100-150 rounds through it. |

Heres a photo of my XD45 Tactical. I bought this back in January at a gun show. The guy had two of these that were identical. One for $499 and one for $529. Nothing different. His explaination for the price difference was that the cheaper gun (the one I bought) was older stock that he had purchased at a cheaper price. It was all the same to me since they were completely identical. Either way, it may be possible that older models got the beafier ejector manufactured from a machined block of steel, while newer ones were manufactured from a piece of punched sheetmetal to cut down cost. Dont' know, just a guess.
Anyway, here's the photo: ![]()

I beleive the "new" version is stamped where the "old" version is either forged or MIM.

Just looked at mine, and it looks like the one on the right. I ordered it from SA, cause I wanted it with the Trijicons. It's only about 6 weeks old.
