Considering going from .45 acp to 9mm

If you haven't shot the 9sc do yourself a favor and do so. It will more than meet any needs you have for going with a 9mm. Easy to shoot, fun to shoot, highly accurate, cheaper to shoot than the .45. What more could you want.

well i would rather have a 40 but i would carry 9mm without any worries or feeling "out gunned" with modern JHP bullets a 9mm is plenty powerful factory +p ammo is relatively easy to find and a great performer

I wouldn't have any fear or doubts carrying a 9mm. I carry an XD45 compact right now, so it's 10+1...and XD9sc is 10+1 in subcompact mode. If I went with something like the Kahr MK9, that's 6+1 or 7+1 depending on the magazine you use. I would certainly carry at least one spare if I went with something like the Kahr.

Here's my list of handguns I'd like to have in the stable without going crazy:

Kahr MK9/PM9/MK40, just easier to conceal as it's smaller and the grip is shorter than my XD45 compact. If I get one of these, it'd probably be the primary carry gun. Ammo is not as pricey as .45 acp. When it comes to carry ammo, I'm not worried about the price. I don't go through hollow points very much. It's all the range time and fun shooting I do that ends up eating the budget.

Something pocket gun size, something like the Ruger LCP or the new Kahr P380. Just something I can stick in my pocket for easy concealment whenever I want to either grab something and go or when I can't wear clothing that allows me to carry my XD45 compact. Probably 2 of those since my wife is going to need something she can carry and I don't think she'll carry anything bigger than a G26. She liked the G26 over the XD9sc and the M&P subcompact.

.22 lr semi auto to be able to shoot all day and not worry about the price of ammo.

.357 magnum revovler - 3"-4" barrel for hiking/hunting, or perhaps the Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull since I can also fire .45 Colt with it. Wouldn't get shot a whole lot, but it has only specialized purpose.

My 1911 is my fun gun, it's match grade everything, adjustable target sights. It works for house and it works on the range.

XD45 compact service - my first semi auto, primary carry gun right now. Night sights already on it.

H&R .22 lr revolver, 5" barrel target model with adjustable sights



So, that list doesn't address that I'd like to get my first AR and I want to find a 20 gauge shotgun for the wife to do some trap/clay bird shooting with me.

.40 is 10 local more = 29.28

Can't get .45 here.

I do like the XD9sc, I've shot them on several occasions.

My P22 was kinda expensive, but SA hasn't came out with a .22 conversion for the XD45 yet & I enjoy shooting the Walther. I'll keep my .45 & continue to shoot it, but not as much as the .22

I carry a 5 shot 9mm snubie everyday, After a great deal of range time I don't feel under gunned plus it is a blast to shoot! I do carry an extra moonclip with me just in case But from what I have been taught it is over in 3 seconds and three shots so the way I see it I will have two left for
sh!ts and grins .

The cool thing about the 9SC is that you can put the collars on full size 16 round mags and enjoy a full grip when shooting. Then use the compact mags for concealing.

My SC is my carry, but it also serves as a back-up to my 9Tac just in case the Tac ever fails in a match. I have 5 mag collars that I can slide on the full size mags so that I can shoot with a full grip. The barrel is still only 3", but I've competed with it before, and it was spot on.

I would buy a 45SC if one was ever built. Just to carry. There's no denying the stopping power of the 45.

I just cant enjoy shooting a .22. I own a couple, but it feels like shooting a BB gun and it really isn't fun to me.

The XD45c works the same way, 10 round compact mags and 13 round mags from the service/tactical models with grip extension sleeves.
