Question for 40sc owners
I bought a XD40sc this past december, and I have a question. Ok, this is kind of hard to explain.....Is the trigger suppose to reset after you release it, or will it force the reset while your finger is holding the trigger back? What I am experiencing, is the trigger is coming back and poping my finger. It actually makes my finger sore if I shoot enough. When I first got the gun I called Springfield about it, and they said that it was normal. Well, before I bought the 40 sc I had shot the 40 service and 45 service and neither of them did this. At the range yesterday I asked to shoot the 45 again, and did not experience this.
Is this normal? Or was the customer service rep at springfield not wanting to deal with my question. |

Mine doesn't do that. Or at least I don't notice. Try reading up on trigger slap. I don't know if that's it but I've skimmed across the topic once.

That would be an excellent description of what its doing! I didnt think it was normal. Kind of irritating that the people at Springfield would blow me off like that.
Thanks for the tip. |

How many rounds do you have through it? Mine had a little in the first 200 or so and now it's as smooth as glass. If it doesn't go away send it back. my.02 YMMV

i have put close to 1000 rounds through it. I just called springfield, and this customer service rep was awesome. Got an RMA number to send it back.
This is good, cause I was close to selling this gun and getting a 45 compact. I really like the size and the feel, but shooting it was unpleasant. (im still going to get the compact though) Does anyone know what causes this? I am always curious as to why. |

no, i put my finger in the middle of the trigger. I did consider that it was user error, except for the fact that I shot other XD's and did not experience this problem.

I think you should go ahead and buy the XD45 compact anyway.
That way you have a back up while your XD40sc is away. Neither one of my XDs have the problem you were having. Good luck Bro..

This gun is a very simple gun to dissasemble and reassemble, take her down a few times and clean her and put her back together, never had problems with mine, purchased it when they first came out in 2001...I've shot at least 5k a year through her...I can't believe the first person you talked to at Springfield treated you that way, maybe that person was having gun problems of there own and didn't want to hear yours. Hope when your gun comes back you wont have anymore problems, this gun is truely and wonderful gun to shoot.
