I never acted on my thoughts of selling my XD, because of the quality of them, so I agree with you bama.
Lowlife, I am definately getting a 45 compact, as soon as I can get one with the OD frame and stainless slide. Dont know why but that one really got my attention. Till then I guess my Kimber will have to do.....right? LOL Also, while its at Springfield I am gonna have night sites installed. I just dont know which ones. Any suggestions? I am looking at the XS, or the Trijicon. Last edited by msu33; 04-03-2008 at 12:44 PM. |

Get the TFO night sights, I have them on my XD40 Sub-Compact. You won't reget it.

Definitely not normal.
I know you got the RMA already, but if you haven't sent it in yet, look below. Two things I could think of that might cause that. 1 - The slide is not just pushing the trigger bar down when it recoils, but also back. This will cause the trigger to push forward. 2 - The trigger bar is not actually disconnecting after it fires and, again, when the slide cycles and pushes the sear back down, it's also pushing the trigger forward. Look at the trigger bar and see if it has any burrs on top or if its bent toward the rear. Also, look at the safety lever and sear and see if there are any burrs, rough spots or anything that doesn't look "normal".

Funny this should come up, I thought it was just me. I picked up a .40sc a few weeks ago and mine does the same thing. I have a .40 service as well and I have no issues with that, but for whatever reason my trigger finger is sore after a trip to the range with the SC. In fact I was just at the range this afternoon and it's a little sore now. I was hoping that putting a few more rounds through it would loosen things up a bit. I've only got about 250 through it so far. When I got home I did play around a little to see if what I could figure out and I did notice that the sore spot is exactly where the bottom of trigger safety lever touches my finger.
I did check out the trigger bar as Cumminalong suggested, but everything looks fine. I'm supposed to meet up with some friend to go shooting this weekend so I'll bring it along and put a few more rounds down range with it. I'll get a couple of them to try it as well and make sure it's not just me. As I said, doesn't happen with my .40 service though. Anyway you'll have to keep us up to date and let us know what Springfield is able to find out, and hopefully fix the problem. If so I very well could be giving them a call myself. |

I came home one day from shooting with a big ol blood blister on my trigger finger from the sc 40 I had. One of the reasons I no longer have it.
It was worse than my sar 1 romanian ak. I have shot service models that did not do it. Now I just need to buy one. |

its seems that all the problems people are haveing with the trigger slap is in the .40sc! im just wondering if anyone has had and of these same problems in the 9sc! ive been thinking about getting one!
Also, i have the xd40 service and have never had any trigger problems of this sort or at all! its smooth as hell and one of the most comfortable triggers ive shot to date! |

Clear your gun, then press the trigger safety so that it is flush with the rest of the trigger. If it is not flush with the trigger your trigger finger is probably getting pinched not slapped.
Take a file to it, and file the offending part until flush. You can use exacto knife with glocks but with a steel trigger in XDs a file is what you need. (or you can send it back to SA |

Another to keep in mind.............THE .40SC HAS SOME KICK TO IT.
There may NOT be anything wrong with it, it just has a different feel to it. The slide is short, the recoil is sharp, the muzzle rises more, the muzzle flash is increased, and if you're not using the extended mag or a Pearce grip extension then it's less controllable. My .40SC definitely has more punch behind it than my service and considerable more than my 9mm tactical.

I dont know if it is a problem with just the 40sc or not, but since all XD frames are designed the same I dont see why this problem would only be in 40sc.
I took it apart and looked at it all, nothing jumped out at me that could be the source of the problem. Doesnt mean there isn't one. So, I boxed it up and took it to fed ex. I hope to hear from springfield next week. For those of you with the same issue. I would give springfield a call, if you want to wait and see what i find out I will keep you all filled in. |
