Barrel polishing

Someone, at some point buried a really useful post in the midst of a thread on XD modifications discussing professional barrel polishing. I've looked everywhere and I can't find it. Don't recall the name of the process used either but it left the barrel with a mirror surface, and it was also mirrored down to the microscopic level so that it wouldn't rust. Does anyone remember this thread? Has my memory been addled by all the long years, and all the good beers?

did you pay for it or do it yourself?

i did mine with "heavy metal polish" the green and blue with my dremel with felt wheels and have had ZERO problems with rust.

and this is a knife i made out of just regular angle iron type steel and polished the same way

it was a paid for service being provided by a weaponsmith or metal shop or something. I think (after further reading) the process is called burnishing, but I still can't find it

Talking nice polish

I know you can pay girls hanging around cheap motels to polish your barrel for a minimal fee and they come across as professionals in there trade, however to avoid the hassle I just polish my barrel myself

Search for Burnishing and you will find the posts. They also reference PFF a company based in Kansas that does polishing/Burnishing.

Hey rogerxd45, looks nice but did you just do the chamber part or the entire length of the barrel? How long did it take?

Thanks!

i did the hole barrel except fot the bottem of the chamber part (the part the has the "tabs" sticking out) it took an hour or so i cant really remember but it was my first time so i could do it faster now.

$30 is a good deal the only problem is that once the barrrel scratches you cant do a quick touch up since you dont have the stuff to do it. i will touch mine up every once and a while depending how much i have shot my gun
