The Slidestop

Hi All,

Ok so I'm pretty new to the XD considering I bought it this morning. I had shot a friends previously and did the whole ..XD40 vs M&P, Glock, well..I'm sure you understand. Anyways, my question is this. When I have the slide locked back and after I put the mag in and I want to release the slide, it takes an enormous amount of pressure on the release button to get the slide to slam back into place for firing. Am I missing something>? It seems like it shouldn't be this hard to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the board. I'm pretty new to XDs too, but from what I've read and now experienced, it will loosen up pretty quickly so you can release the slide with just your thumb

Thanks for the welcome. I figured it was because it was so new, just out of the box and all. Hoping so anyways!

If it is new the spring is still stiff, give it some time, you will be pleased once it breaks in.

Another reason to use the overhand or slingshot method. Easier with a strong spring. I use extra power springs on a lot of my guns since I like to shoot a lot of +P, so I typically slingshot. Saves a little wear on the stop/slide as well.

it does loosen up but it is allways going to be heavier then most guns but not that bad at all.
i use either the slide stop or sling shot but i use the slide stop most

i too felt it was very strong while doing dry fire drills. it was actually hurting my thumb.

by 100 rounds it was acceptable.
i'm hoping it will get even easier with more range time.
but i can at least live with it now.

Sorry, the XD was built for a REAL man.

I'd suggest one of these, for almost any shooter, of any firearm.

No joke. I actually laughed as I questioned my local gun dealer about selling these in his store. At the time, I just didn't see any reason, but my mind has changed. After spending some time with this little gadget, the strength, steadiness, control and accuracy has drastically improved in just a matter of weeks.

I'm sure it will help with that weak thumb as well.
