Extra mag carry for CCW...how do you?
Well, having just taken a pistol class I found that the "XD gear" dual mag holster was not going to work for me. I'm interested in how you guys carry a spare mag. I've been using an IWB holster and there's not too much room left in the waist for another mag inside the pants. Do you use a tuckable mag holder, in the pants pocket, a regular OWB belt mag holder, or something else? I'm trying to look at all options. I just need one spare mag. Retention is a concern. Performing malfunction drills (in the class) and having to drop a mag ,clear the malfunction, and grab a new one made me realize that an extra mag was a good idea. Now I just need a good way to carry one
Thanks in advance.

I use a tuckable mag carrier from CrossBreed.

I also carry one in my back left pocket (I'm right handed). I'd like to get one of these from Tucker in the future:

Normally, if I'm dressed for carry, I use a Fobus paddle double mag pouch that I trimmed down a bit.
For a little more discreet carry, I use an extra Gerber knife pouch w/ a velcro flap on it. Fits a Sub-Comp mag perfectly. Or, if I'm in the shorts, T's and flip flops, I stick the Fobus in the front pocket of the Versipack.

I usually wear cargo pants and keep an extra mag in the left lower pocket.

I can't CCW yet, but I keep an extra mag in my center console of my car, and my pistol goes in my glovebox.
I would most likely just throw the spare mag in the thigh pocket of my cargo shorts or something.

You might consider the 5.11 tactical series range of clothing. The NRA usuaslly has a good selection of clothes designed for concealment.
I have a couple of pairs of the jeans, and also the jacket. NRAStore.com - Home Page My jacket has interchangeable pieces to insert depending on where you are going and what you want to carry: ![]() I wear a crossbreed holster for carry, but the extra mag pocket on the jeans is handy: ![]() They have a whole range of clothing. I try to buy from the NRA store to support the cause 5.11 Tactical Series
