Need gun smithing help ASAP for my XD9
I'm having a problem figuring out WTF is wrong with my XD
![]() Pick of the striker from the under side: ![]() This is causing every round jam. The round to be fed will get caught on the striker. At first I thought it was the striker dampening spring. I replaced both the dampening spring and the striker spring. After racking the slide a couple of times the problem reemerged. I removed the striker safety and the problem was still there. Now I'm stuck! Is it the striker or possibly the striker safety that has worn down? Maybe the sear or the striker safety lever? I'm running out of money to buy more parts troubleshooting, so I'm coming to the forum that would know more then I do about fixing this gun. I've invested alot over the years in this XD and would like to shoot it at the Space City Challenge match in 3 weeks in limited minor class. Please help me fix my XD!!!

The striker in the photo is not catching the striker safety. That is the problem pictured.

That was my first thought, so I completely remove the striker safety from the frame and the problem still existed. Even w/o a striker safety I could rack the slide and the striker would protrude from the frame.

Then it isn't catching the sear, so you have two things going on.

your post leads me to believe you tried using ammo in it. BE VERY CAREFUL BECAUSE BY THE LOOKS OF IT YOU WILL GET SLAM FIRE!
did you modify your safety? mine doesn't look like that. |

I wonder if the "loaded chamber" indicator rod might be bent? It looks like maybe something is causing the striker to hang forward. Is the striker loose when you see it forward? Try shaking the gun front to back and see if the striker moves at all. If it is binding, something (striker or rod or spring) is messed up to cause that. |

Ditto, that looks like the safety plunger has been machined allowing the striker tab to ride forward and depress the plunger. That definitely WOULD cause the striker to hang up as you have shown. Replace that safety plunger with one of stock height and see if it stops the striker from popping out.

One more thing: is the spring under the safety plunger installed properly so it will pop out to the correct height? |

Replace the sear spring with a stock or new sear spring, and make sure the sear is pivoting freely in the frame.

Did you disassemble the striker before you had trouble with it or did it just start doing it on it's own? I've seen this when the striker is removed and then the springs and indicator are put back in wrong.
