Thats what you get when you accidentally load C4 into your magazine and detonate it... Silly guy...but its a good thing it was an XD because it contained the blast nicely!

haha. In all seriousness, that would have scared the living crap out of me. Also sucks because Im not sure that he will get any help from anyone as far as compensation goes for the pistol. It looks pretty well trashed. Well...atleast the important parts look pretty bad.

Ive been reloading for almost 10 yrs and have seen this on other guns. I bet it was a carless mistake and it was an over load. Or a sqwib in the barrel and they just pulled the slide back to insert another round and pulled the trigger. I have a glock barrel that a rookie was training with. He did that and kaboom. The sarge was pissed cause the rookie just didnt pay attention to the odd noise but tried to keep on shooting. I tell my shooter that if a shot sounded or felt different STOP!! Then investigate.

It is possible that a commercial round caused this, however it is very unlikely. It is far more likely that it was a reload. From my perspective reading various shooting and reloading forums, there are numbers of people jumping into reloading with both feet, without taking any time or effort to learn the basics, with predictable results.

As was mentioned in a previous post, never, ever shoot anyone else's reloads. For myself, that means all the folks selling at gun shows, etc. We were shooting a DCM match one Sunday, and one of the shooters had a Garand that was throwing the brass 50 feet, and the report sounded excessive. Someone picked up a piece of his brass, and the case head showed primer flowback and incipient head separation (the bright ring above the case head). Turns out he bought those .30-06 reloads at a gun show. We found him some safe ammo, and encouraged him to try to get his money back for the ammo, but under no circumstances to try to shoot it. Take this as a cautionary tale, or anything you wish, but don't shoot reloads if you don't know the person who loaded them and are familiar with their practices, and don't reload yourself unless you're willing to do it right.

It's obviously an evil Glock trick. The GDF (Glock Defense Force) have been planning this for months now.

So that makes 2 KB's for XD's I know of. The first one was reloaded ammo and this one they are claiming was WWB ammo.

The original thread on the other web site is called "XD Trigger Job", I don't see anything that suggests that he modified his trigger, or it had anything to do with the problem.

The other web site has a post that the owner got a blood blister on his trigger finger, and not other injuries as a result.

Nothing I'd want to see happen.

Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.

I have to believe that the shooter had at least a little injury on his shooting hand -- particularly where the index finger joins the palm.

I don't know if bullet setback could cause this and suspect too much charge.

I'm guessing that in addition to a new gun the shooter will need some new undershorts!!!
