I use a Honeywell Fire/Water safe that is rated for 1.5 hours burn time and a week or so submersed. I bought it at target for half price because the box was damaged... go figure a cardboard box holding a chunk of a safe not being in shape? Well I figured I'd take the discount and run. It is electronic entry, not to excited about that but oh well. Holds my XD Service, passports, sscards and all that other stuff as well.

The only level of security I need is to keep kids out. This safe does that and more.

I'd enjoy a full on pistol/rifle safe with a good burn time but diapers, insurance and taxes keep getting in the way

Enough to make you just order one from lowes and select in-store delivery. Rent a stairclimbing handtruck and offer a few buddies some free beer (after the move) and save yourself $200.

IIRC, most good safes allow you to take the door off the hinges and in many high end safes there's a good amount of weight in the door.

When I had to move mine that's what I did (It's a Champion Safe) and getting that door back on was a B&^%$H YMMV
