What to buy
Hey,
My friend and I finally got to shoot the XD .45 5" and man was it nice. The Glock did not even come close nor the S&W MP. They did'nt have a 4" to try or a 9mm. I like the .45 4" but I only tried the 5". Also I was thinking of going with a 9mm com. or sub com. just cuz the 9mm is a fun gun to shoot. Will use it for targets and H.D. and some times take to my business for protection. So What would you say to buy and why? Thanks |

hey bob, I had somewhat of the same delimma as which xd to choose along with choosing it for concealed carry.I wanted something small enough to conceal but I wanted better accuracy as well so I chose the XD 4" 9mm. I thought about the .45 but I got a great deal on the 9mm bi-tone.It shoots great and is in the middle between the full size and compact and I've also found I can conceal it easy enough in my side in an inside the waist holster angled at 3 o'clock.great accuracy, easy to conceal, reliable as hell. I'd go with a 4'' in .45 or 9mm. I've heard the sub compacts get pretty good accuracy as well I just wanted the 4'' for more accurate shooting farther back if I had too for home defense a sub should be just fine though. Welcome to XD Talk

If you wanted to go with the .45, you could always go with the compact, which you could use with grip extensions to equal the full grip length of a 4" service.

Same process as Tenifer, from what I can tell. Search for tenifer or melonite on google for a detailed description. The chemistry is over my head for the most part though.
