not too accurate

Over lunch hour, I had a chance to try out my new xdp sub compact. First 50 or so rounds it was high and left. The following 50 were to the left. I was shooting at 15 feet. Usually, I put a neet little hole in the 10 ring. I had both my buddies shoot the xd and they both were to the left, about 10 o'clock.
( of course, they are both Glock guys )
First time I have had a new gun not shoot too accurate. Especially at 15 feet. The gun did kinda group at 10 oclock, but not impressive.
I really am not impressed with the sights, and am thinking of having new ones installed.
I am worried about the gun shooting to point of aim. I really don't know what to think about the xd.
I would like to get your opinions ?
Jack

Give it about 250 rounds to break in. I would put at least 1000 rounds through it before changing things if it were me.

call springfield

I dont believe in too much hype about break in, the gun shot be good to go out of the box, things should smooth up and thats about it. if the "gun" becomes more accurate after 250 rounds, its because you got used to how to shoot it, not because its broken in, imho, and in my gunsmiths ho

I'm going to agree partially...

Go shoot it some more. It's not so much breaking the gun it as it is breaking you in to how it shoots. Getting used to trigger pull, etc.

This was my first target with my XD45...I shot better than the target looks as I was just punching holes and not going for groups and a lot of the holes that are spread out more were from my 16 year old brother in law...

I now have no trouble with groups in the middle.

You and your friends suck at shooting. Don't blame it on the poor gun.

I have several guns, out of all of them including my Kahr, which is the closest to this 9mm... I can wipe out the 10 ring with ten shots. AT 15 feet
I also have shot my daughters 9mm which is a xd, Several Glocks, A para ordinance, 1911 S& W etc etc,,
I dont see as well now as I did when I was younger.. But I have great trigger sqeeze and a real solid grip..... AT 15 feet my eyes are ok...
My Buddy Ron, also shot this XD of mine, Now this is a guy who point shoots with sights taped ... And he shoots better than I can..
He couldnt hit the bull with this gun..
So, I dont think its the trigger I really really dont... I been around guns all my life and I am over 50 now.... This gun is off a wee bit About 1 1/2 inches to the right. Never had a new gun with factory sights do this before.

I'm not your friend, but I'll bet he meant to poke a little fun at you, not to be serious.

I would give yourself a little more time with the new gun to see if you two can come to a mutually beneficial agreement about where the bullets are gonna land.

that wasn't necessary at all. most people need some time to get used to a new gun when they get it even if its the same type. i had a xd45 and i got to the point where i was pretty good at it and then i bought a xd40 and i want shooting nearly as good as i was with my 40 and it took some time to "learn" that gun. now since it was the same type of gun it didnt take long.

jack (i think thats your name)
just keep at it and you will eventually get it. there MIGHT be something wrong with your gun but it is WAY WAY to early to come to that conclusion. no if after 1000 rounds you still cant shoot it then look into it but for now keep at it.
also have someone else shoot it and see how they do. if i ever am having problems with a gun the first thing i do is have someone else shoot it. its the best way to find out if it is you or the gun. and preferably have a couple people shoot it
