I've got about 500 rds through mine now, and I'm shooting dead on. If you sandbagged your gun and it's still shooting off (for you + other people, in the same fashion) it sounds like your sights are incorrect. I was shooting low with mine for a few hundred rounds, but that was completely my error - sandbag testing showed the gun was shooting where aimed. Now, at 500 rds, where I point is where it shoots. Sounds like something is off on yours. I'd send it out if it's shooting off the mark for multiple people on a sandbag, and get it looked at/fixed.

Good luck,
David

All ten shots grouped into approximately 1 inch. not a bad grouping, just not where I wanted it.
I shot factory pmc loads. Better than the reloads I get.

I shot 10 more freehand at 7 feet. Couldnt use sandbags, the target was too close, I would shoot the ceiling if I did,
so I was about 1 inch high and 1 inch to the left and the group was about 1 1/2 inches.

Is there a break in period for the sights/gun to shoot better ?

Even shooting from a sandbag, you could still be pushing the trigger (to the left) or "healing" (raising the muzzle) the gun when you pull the trigger. It does happen evern with a supported pistol.

I have several XDs. The trigger weights are different on all of them and I found that the heavier the trigger pull the harder it was to aim the pistol properly. The triggers smooth out after several hundred rounds. I have never had an XD not shoot to the point of aim if I did my part in aiming properly.

The XD trigger takes some serious getting used to. It I don't practice often I have to relearn each XD's trigger.

I would shoot 400 or 500 rounds before I did anything to the gun.

He's claimed a few times it wasn't just him shooting. If he had multiple people shooting off the sandbag and it was exhibiting the same tendency to be off, I'd place blame on the pistol. That is, unless they all shoot the same pistol all the time and all have the same habits as well as flaws. I thought my pistol was off until I sandbagged it and had other people shoot it - at which point I realized it was me - and I quite quickly corrected my errors. Now I shoot 1911s better, too! Nice benefit for free.

Cheers,
David

I have noticed that a lot of people who are used to shooting revolvers and 1911 seem to have trouble getting the grip right on the XD, most often they have too much finger on the trigger. They also tend to not position the gun correctly in the web of their hand. After correcting that, or just paying closer attention to it, everything seem to improve. The sights are drift adjustable and most guns shoot point of aim under 25 yards so I'm not sure why yours is high other than your sight picture. Shoot it for a while a lot of things get better at around 500 rounds.
