double action trigger in a XD ?
I am a potential new buyer for a XDSC9mm , but I have two issues that require answers before I go on and buy the thing ...!!! 1) The double action only : I own a Beretta 90-two which is DA/SA that means that the first pull of the trigger (if the hammer has not been cocked ) is going to be a long one and the rest will be short crisp pulls (SA) . Now, if the XD is a DA only, does that means that every time you pull the trigger is going to be a long hard pull ? I need some explaining here because that isn`t clear to me ... and 2) I have been reading about the finish on the slides of the XDs (I think it is call Brunirol ) that it is not very good and some guns are getting rusted.... please, tell me that this has been solved already...!!! But I really need to understand the DA long pull on the trigger. Thanks for your time..... josey

The trigger pull is a little long, but not that bad. There are also a couple forum sponsors that make trigger kits for them to solve this. The finish has been fixed on the newer guns, don't have to worry about rusting.

No, No - the striker (hammer) on the XD is always cocked, unless there isn't a round in the chamber. All the trigger does is release the striker, so it is a pretty crisp trigger. However, the trigger has an initial, somewhat long pull that has little resistance. Once you hit the point of releasing the striker, the reistance increases until you get a decently crisp break.
It's a very good trigger, not like a DA. More like SA feel with DA pull length. |

its like a 2 stage trigger the first stage is long but is really light. the second stage is heavier but short.
it is nothing like the DA trigger on a DA/SA |

I agree with Gfunk... I generally don't like the long DA triggers, but am very pleased with the trigger on my XD.

Like others have said, the trigger is nothing like the long hard pull of a DAO gun. It actually like the initial long/light pull on the trigger. It allows me to ride the trigger a bit. The new finishes are incredibly durable. I take it you don't have a local shop where you can go play with the trigger of the XD?

The XD has a better trigger, but Glocks can be tweaked pretty well too. The XD trigger "feel" is what people generally prefer, which is a very light take up and then a well defined break point. The stock Glock is just a long, stacking feel that builds and releases without a definitive break point. Most people hate that because you can't stage the trigger. I think that I am understanding now . It is a little hard for me because I have never experienced that ... My shooting have always been done with Sigs and Berettas, and a couple of times with 1911s , and I was worry a bit. So, as far as I can think of this DA it is a kind of SA with a little travel . I will give it a try first before buying, to be sure. Thanks to all for the explanations and also for the second answer to the finish quality , that it has been solved, as I thought it would have been by now. josey
